Ukraine has reportedly executed one of its most extensive drone offensives against Russia since the conflict began, resulting in the deaths of at least six individuals and igniting a significant blaze at a distribution warehouse near Moscow. The Russian Defense Ministry stated that it intercepted 1,478 Ukrainian drones within a 24-hour timeframe, marking the highest number recorded in a single day, though these figures remain unverified. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin noted that approximately 600 drones targeted the Moscow region, with 201 of them allegedly destroyed, and confirmed one fatality in the area.
The Wildberries distribution center near Podolsk, situated roughly 25 miles south of Moscow’s center, experienced severe damage and was rendered non-operational due to the fire. This facility, which spans about 250,000 square meters, was among several targeted by Ukraine, as per reports from Ukraine’s military. Ukrainian officials have accused Wildberries of being involved in military logistics, which has led to multiple attacks on its associated facilities. This incident underscores Ukraine’s advancing long-range strike capabilities, even as Russia persists in deploying drones and missiles against Ukrainian urban areas and infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Russian strikes have also resulted in the deaths of at least seven people in Ukraine, with casualties reported in Kryvyi Rih and the Sumy region. A missile assault on Kyiv led to injuries for six individuals and sparked fires, notably at a prominent book market where several businesses reported total losses of their inventory. On another front, a Spanish fighter jet, part of a NATO patrol, intercepted and destroyed a suspected Russian drone after it breached Romanian airspace, according to NATO representatives.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Russia of persistently targeting civilian infrastructure, detailing that Moscow launched over 1,550 attack drones, nearly 1,560 guided bombs, and 62 missiles against Ukraine in the past week alone. This rising tension signifies an escalation as both nations intensify their use of long-range weaponry, heightening the potential for casualties and destruction far removed from the immediate battle lines.
