The European Union (EU) has underscored its expanding partnership with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), emphasizing a broadening collaboration spanning trade, investment, climate, artificial intelligence, technology, and security. This development marks a transition from traditional diplomatic relations to a comprehensive economic, political, and security partnership, according to an EU statement.
The EU highlighted that the UAE is its second-largest trade partner, while the EU stands as the UAE’s primary investment partner. This relationship is bolstered by geographical proximity and increasing trade and investment links. Both entities have also extended their cooperation into areas such as artificial intelligence, clean energy, and regional connectivity.
Following their collaboration at COP28, the EU and UAE are actively pursuing opportunities in the green economy and artificial intelligence. Efforts are also being made to strengthen ties between Europe and the Middle East and North Africa, alongside promoting the exchange of technology and expertise.
In addition to economic and technological cooperation, the EU continues to work with the UAE on addressing regional security challenges. This commitment to enhancing regional security and resilience underscores the growing security collaboration between the two partners.
