Secro, a U.S.-founded document workflow automation platform, has swiftly positioned itself as a leader in the digitalization of inventory and trade finance since establishing its presence in Switzerland in July 2025. The platform’s technology has been utilized across 48 countries, successfully digitizing $3.5 billion worth of shipments. Among its users are six of the world’s top ten largest commodity traders and over 300 importers, exporters, and logistics service providers. The adoption of Secro’s technology has gained significant momentum following its integration by a major European bank.

In a landmark development, Crédit Agricole CIB began using Secro’s proprietary blockchain technology in October 2025 to digitalize transactional commodity operations. This collaboration resulted in the bank’s first digital commercial operation in the energy sector, conducted with a major global trader. The process allowed for a digital document of title to be issued while the vessel was at sea, transferred seamlessly to the shipper, and securely stored in Crédit Agricole CIB’s Secro digital vault. This innovative approach enabled the bank to maintain control over the original document throughout the voyage, endorsing it digitally to the final consignee upon settlement. This successful transaction has paved the way for increased adoption of digital negotiable instruments within the Swiss commodity trading industry.

The network supporting Secro’s platform expanded further when ING joined in early 2026, following Crédit Agricole CIB’s example. Known for its pioneering efforts in digitization, ING is exploring the use of Secro’s technology for inventory financing. If successful, ING would become the first bank to tokenize documents of title across the entire commodity finance value chain. With multiple launch customers and other banks in the process of onboarding, Secro is addressing the primary challenge of digital trade: achieving end-to-end connectivity and interoperability among all stakeholders, including exporters, logistics providers, traders, and banks.

Secro’s strategic choice of Switzerland as its European headquarters is underscored by the country’s robust Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) Act, which provides strong legal standing for digital securities. The platform’s technology infrastructure is located in the Zurich region, ensuring high data protection standards and compliance with various global digital trade frameworks. Secro’s solution offers significant advantages, such as reduced transactional risk, increased legal robustness, and faster operational processes, which together enhance liquidity and optimize cash flow for traders.

With its internationally-patented tokenization technology and compliance with advanced digital trade laws, Secro has become a standard-bearer for trade digitalization. Its credibility is further supported by endorsements from major marine insurance carriers and recognition from the International Chamber of Commerce. As a certified SOC2-type 2 and ISO 27001 company, Secro continues to provide a cutting-edge platform for the digital transformation of global trade operations.
