Greece maintained its position at the top of the Nations League group after a 2-2 draw against the Netherlands in Thessaloniki on Thursday. The Greek team took control in the first half, establishing a 2-0 lead with goals from Fotis Ioannidis and Giorgos Masouras.

Ioannidis opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, capitalizing on a header from Masouras. As the first half drew to a close, Masouras extended Greece’s advantage by scoring in stoppage time after Ioannidis seized on a poor backpass from the Netherlands to create the opportunity.

The Netherlands mounted a strong comeback in the second half. Virgil van Dijk reduced the deficit in the 59th minute with a header from a Joey Veerman corner. Despite a crucial save from Greece’s goalkeeper Konstantis Tzolakis late in the match, the Netherlands managed to equalize in the 89th minute through Tijjani Reijnders, who scored from close range.

This result leaves Greece on seven points, two points ahead of the Netherlands in the group standings. Greece is set to host Germany in their next match on Sunday.
